Moby came to the film school today to talk to us about his new website http://www.mobygratis.com/ which lets film students use his music for free (unless it is for commercial purpose, then there is a nominal fee to the humane society). It was wonderful to listen to him speak. He was very intelligent, self-aware, and incredibly funny. At one point in his talk though, he mentioned where he lived in New York and that he 'goes out' way too often.I am very aware of who Moby is and love his music...but I don't see his escapades or anything negative about him at all anywhere. I think a lot of entreprenuers and really upstanding artists manage to keep out of the blog/magazine spotlight but we do know who they are (John Williams, Steve Jobs, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Enya, etc). Why aren't they mobbed by paparazzi too? Does the media have a degree of respect for them? Is it because they are in their 40s and beyond? What's the deal?!
